From the Start
PopUP Music Therapy is a collaborative effort between BaileyBeatsMusic and Small Steps Music. Co-founders Joe Bailey, Jr. and Natalie Generally Kirk were compelled by concerns for their own children's futures to make an impact on today's youth. Many families in the Black community have been impacted by the haunting images, menacing stories, and dark reality of what our children face daily. It is our desire to foster dialogue, promote mental health, and encourage creative expression through music.
In response to traumatic events in the black community in recent months and the need to break the cycle of prejudice, discrimination, and racism in American society, PopUP Music therapy is offering free music therapy services to youth in local communities. There is a need for having difficult conversations about race, mental health, living through trauma, and growing as an individual and a society in need of healing.
